Our Story
-
Hello! We're Rosie and Philip, founders of Made in Japan UK (or MIJ for short). We source and sell beautiful Japanese home and tableware.
-
We founded MIJ because, to be honest, we were fed up with low- quality, boring tableware! With a mission to make every food and drink moment one to savour, we set out to supply tableware that does just that. Tableware that was made to matter.
Over time, our product offering has organically grown to ensure that Japanese craftsmanship can extend beyond the dining table to every corner of the home. Today, our curated collection includes kitchenware, garden goods, books, and gifts.
Unlike other retailers and brands whose products may be influenced by Japan, we remain true to our name. Every product is actually made in Japan. Sourced from skilled artisans to ensure the highest standards of quality, functionality, and beauty.
Our products are made with love and care in Japan, but it's at home with you where their story lives on.
We’re your Sunday best, every day. Elevating mealtimes and sparking conversation;
we help make every moment matter.

The majority of our products are sourced from small, family-run kilns in Gifu on the central island of Honshu, with the rest of our collections sourced from the length and breadth of Japan.
