Care Guide
Our products are made to last because they’re made with care. But they’ll need a little extra to ensure they stay looking fabulous.
Top tips to care for your new tableware:
- Fear not, most of our range is dishwasher and microwave safe, except a few ‘Crackle’ glazes – keep scrolling to find out more on those
- Don’t put them in the oven (they don’t like getting too hot!)
- Try not to overdo it on the scrubbing – gently does it
- Temperature shock can cause things to crack, so avoid rapidly switching between hot and cold temperatures
- Lastly, don’t drop them: they’ll break and we’ll all be sad
Crackle Glazes
These beauties have a glaze that looks like cracked glass on the surface. They’re pretty special but require a little more care and attention than our regular products:
- Don’t use in a dishwasher unless you’re a careful stacker and use a gentle cycle. Crackle glazes are fragile and prefer hand washing in warm water with a mild detergent
- Keep them out of the microwave. The heat generated can open up the cracks of the glaze, which can lead to food and oil stains, and nasty bacteria – nobody wants that
- Avoid long soaking in the sink as it can cause mould to appear. Opt for a prompt rinse and a gentle clean
Carbon Steel Pan Care Guide:
The more you use a Japanese Nitrided Carbon Steel Pan, the better it becomes - absorbing oil, enhancing flavour, and resisting sticking. Even rust or burns can be restored with care, making it a tool to renew, not replace.
With regular use and care, a Japanese Nitrided Carbon Steel Pan builds a natural seasoning, becoming smoother, more durable, and lasting for years.

Garden Tools Care Guide:
Cleaning & Caring for Your Tools - These tools are built to last - but like anything well made, they’ll repay a little care. Here's how to keep them in excellent condition:
- Wipe tools dry after each use to remove sap and moisture. For stubborn resin or rust, use a Niwaki Crean Mate (or Mini Crean Mate) with a few drops of Camellia oil.
- Oil regularly with a few drops of Camellia Oil to protect the steel and keep moving parts smooth.
- Sharpen When Needed - A sharp blade is safer and cleaner. Use the Niwaki Sharpening Stone #1000 for curved blades, and give tools regular touch-ups to keep them cutting well.
- Store tools in a dry place and avoid damp sheds. Wipe them before putting them away. For tidy storage, Toyo Steel Toolboxes are light, durable and well organised.
